Just Ask Youth Cares Conference on Human Trafficking for Teens

An Educational Conference on Human Trafficking for High School Students, Parents, and Interested Community Members

The Just Ask Youth Cares conference is designed to inform and empower teens from across the DC Metro area to take action to fight against teen trafficking by protecting themselves and their peers. They will receive actionable ideas on where and how to begin. Parents and other interested members of the community are also welcome to attend.

Each participant will sign up for three break-out sessions in addition to the keynote speakers. The choices are:

“Not in My Neighborhood” – An In-Depth Look at Gangs & Violence
“REALTalk.com” – Understanding and Building Healthy Relationships
“B.O.L.D.” (Brave-Outspoken-Loving-Different) – How LGBTQ youth are affected by Trafficking
“COP Stories” –A Police Officer’s Perspective on Risk to Homeless Youth
“Know Your Worth” – An Exploration of Positive Self Esteem and Self Identity
A box lunch (with a turkey or vegetarian sandwich) will be served and is included in the conference fee.

All participants under age 18 MUST turn in the permission slip that will be emailed after registration on the morning of the conference at registration.

2018 DFPS Human Trafficking Summit- Houston, TX

Department of Family and Protective Services is holding a Human Trafficking Summit for Social Workers and Law Enforcement. I will be doing a two seminars.

1.) Familial Trafficking: Depicting my Own Lived Experiences as an Example to of Unique Differences in Trafficking Through the Family and/or Foster Home vs. Other Types of Trafficking
2.) LGBTQ+ Youth- Missing the Mark: Why LGBTQ+ and Gender Non-Conforming Youth are at High Risk and Falling Through the Cracks of the System
